Demarini 2010 Baseball Bats

 
 
Baseball bat manufacturers, Demarini, have come up with a new line of baseball bats for 2010. These new versions are said to incorporate improvements of the 2009 models. Demarini claim that they have used a unique technology by which carbon in combined with ‘Silver Trace’.
 
According to them, this bonding provides not only for added strength but also maximizes the transfer of power to the barrel of the bat. All this sounds like a lot of promotional propaganda.
 
However, the technical verbiage gives their claim a degree of authenticity. There are four models lined up for 2010. These are: Demarini CF4, Demarini Vendetta C6, Demarini Voodoo Black, and Demarini Vendetta SC4. Let us consider each one of these.
 
Demarini CF4: Demarini consider their latest model, CF4 Gold as the most technologically advanced baseball bat even though there are no obvious changes from the earlier model CF3. Demarini claim that this model, by incorporating the Silver Trace technology has an 11% increase in the length of the barrel.
 
This works out to be just about an inch. The end cap has a new feature, dubbed “The Hub” which is the end cap that is redesigned to be noticeably concave. Though Demarini do not give any numbers, CF4 has a flex handle and a very low swing weight. Strangely, neither CF3 nor CF4 are preferred by college players, as was made obvious during the 2009 College World Series games.
 

Even teams, such as the Arizona State which use Demarini bats did not play with either of these models of bats. This could be because both these models feel light and the players may prefer bats which feel a bit heavier. Adult – 3 models are priced at $399.99. CF3 might be recommended as a good buy if it is given at a discount.

Demarini Vendetta C6: This model may be the most sensible one produced by Demarini. It is their first attempt to produce a composite baseball bat at a second level. Composite bats are expensive to produce and manufacturers tend to offer second tier models.

Vendetta 6 is a two-piece single wall bat with a flex handle and balanced design and is Demarini’s second tier composite version.

Adult -3 models are priced $299 that is comparable to similar bats of other brand names. This would be a good buy, for this category of bats.

Demarini Voodoo Black: This is a two-piece single wall bat with a flex handle. It is said to incorporate the ‘Pitch Black Plus” technology and has a balanced design. Though the barrel is no different from SC4 Alloy and Vendetta SC4 it costs $50 more, bringing the price of Adult -3 models to $299. This model is the most favored of all the Demarini baseball bats.

Arizona State, which as already mentioned uses Demarini bats, generally selects this model, and it was the bat used by every player of that team at the 2009 CWS. This would be the best buy if you are looking for a high end hybrid bat.

Demarini Vendetta Sc4: This is no different from the 2009 model in this category. This is also a two-piece single wall bat with a flex handle and a balanced design. It uses Demarini’s “Rails Hybrid” technology. It has the same SC4 alloy barrel as the Voodoo models. This model differs from the Voodoo model in that it incorporates the Pitch Black Plus and Silver Trace technologies.

The price tag for an Adult -3 bats is $249.95 and can be recommended as the best buy if you are looking for a bat in the low cost hybrid category.
