Easton 2010 Baseball Bats

The Easton 2010 baseball bats are very similar to the 2009 models except for a few very smart changes. One of these is the addition of a stiff handle to their popular bats. In 2009 they called their composite bats, ‘Stealth/Synergy IMX’. These are now labeled as Stealth/Synergy Speed bats.

The difference seems to lie only in the names. The new versions have a little less swing weight. Stealth speed two-piece bat has an option for stiff handle. The marketing focus for the 2010 models seems to be on the handle flex rating of their baseball bats. Each of the popular and fast moving Easton baseball bat models has a number indicating the stiffness of the handle: the higher the number the greater the stiffness.

This puts Easton at the top of the list of baseball bat producers as far as the extent of information provided about their products. Easton gives information about the handle rating, swing weight (MOI), and hitting area for all their bats. This is indeed very helpful information for the players to have.

One wonders why other baseball bat makers do not follow this excellent practice. Let us consider two of the Easton models. Easton Stealth Speed 75 and 95: These are entirely composite, two-piece end-loaded bats.

Speed 75 is practically similar to 2009 Stealth IMX bats with flex handles but are slightly less end-loaded, with a swing rating of 80 as against 90 in 2009. Speed 95 is the 2010 stiff handle version of Easton. Except for the stiff handle it is exactly the same as Speed 75. The handle of Speed 90 is stiffer than the Synergy Speed bats.

Easton two-piece composite bats are the best selling composite bats in the market. Both Stealth and Synergy Adult -3 bats of 2010 are priced at $399, which is $20 more than the 2009 models. Easton Synergy Speed 90: These are also entirely composite bats. The one-piece end-loaded bats have handle rating of 80 and a stiffness rating of 90. These bats are also exactly like the 2009 Easton Synergy IMX.

However, Easton insists that this latest design has increased balance and bat control through the hitting zone. Easton says that this is the difference between the two models. The Synergy Speed 90 is specifically meant to challenge the Louisville’s one-piece stiff handle versions. Easton Synergy Speed is not as popular as the Stealth Speed/IMX models. If you like this kind of baseball bat, you should opt for the 2009 model priced at $259. This is $140 less than the 2010 model.
